Byron Center High School's A Christmas Carol

The talent that graces the stage at the Van Singel Fine Arts Center continues to amaze me. This season's production was an artistic take on the Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol.

It was a lot of fun cheering on the Bulldogs this year! And even after the defeat Friday night to East Grand Rapids, there was still a bitter-sweet feel to the whole thing, knowing it was a great season. Here's to looking forward to an even better 2010 season!

Byron Center Cheer Open House

Yesterday, Picture Michigan hosted a special Open House for the BCHS Competitive Cheer team. We had some fun in the Camera Room and even had a fire truck at our disposal.







This particular team was special, as all five of the outgoing seniors have been together on the varsity team since they were freshmen. They even took the Conference Championship this year!

Northern Lights & Christmas Choir Concert

Last night's Christmas Choir Concert: very nice!




It was driving home after the concert that presented a very pleasant surprise! Through the brightly lit sky above the city lights of Grand Rapids, is that Aurora Borealis? The Northern Lights?



Sure enough. I shot out to Lake Michigan, and by the time I was ready, they were mostly finished. This image is the best I could capture.

It is rare to see the Northern Lights this far south. Ironically, for all the times I have been in the Upper Peninsula, I have never witnessed the Auroras there. The three times seeing the Northern Lights were twice here in Grand Rapids, and once in Chicago.
